A tip that may or may not be useful to solving a paused printer in Mac OS.
Yesterday, I changed the name of my iMac from the default "
Today, when I went to print a simple text document, my HP Laserjet 1200 went into a "paused" state. Pulling up the print queu, I was able to force the printer to resume the job. The output however was a partial printing of the first page only, with some cryptic HP code embedded within the text of my document.
The problem: my printer was still associated with my old system name. The Mac OS did not associate the name change of my computer with the printers attached to it.
The solution: I restarted the iMac. Then I immediately opened System Preferences and looked at the printer devices. They were still located at a system with my old location name. I control clicked on the my printer icon in the left-side pane (see screen image) and selected Reset Printing System from the ensuing menu. My printers disappeared entirely. I then re-added them by pressing the ' + ' button. Mac OS found the necessary drivers easily and now associates the printers with the new system name.
